This notice describes how Poetic Post, or Poetic Post for short, collects and uses data about you.
What is Poetic Post?
Poetic Post (Poetic Post) is a free online community (aka forum) where people discuss a wide range of positive topics. For the most part, as long as it is positive, it can be discussed. However, based on the community's tags you will notice that the focus areas are meditation, gratitude, lifehacks, and healthy food.
The goal of Poetic Post is to help spread positivity and help change lives for the better.
How does Poetic Post collect data about me?
Poetic Post collects data about you:
- when you browse the forum
- when you create and use an account on the forum
- when you post, send private messages, and otherwise participate in the forum
Poetic Post collects data when you use the forum using a web browser on your own computer or mobile device (which includes when you install Poetic Post as an app on your device).
Poetic Post does not buy or otherwise receive data about you from data brokers.
What data does Poetic Post collect about me, and why?
Poetic Post collects data about visits.
Poetic Post uses data about how you use the website to:
- optimize the forum, so that it’s quick and easy to use
- diagnose and debug technical errors
- defend the forum from abuse and technical attacks
- compile statistics on forum and topic popularity
- compile statistics on the kinds of software and computers visitors use
Poetic Post usually stores data about how you use the forum in identifiable form (with your IP address) for 30 days. In special circumstances, like extended investigations about technical attacks, Poetic Post may preserve log data longer, for analysis. Poetic Post stores aggregate statistics about use of the forum for as long as Poetic Post exists, but those statistics don’t include data identifiable to you personally.
Poetic Post collects account data.
Many features require a forum account. For example, an account is required to post and reply to topics.
To sign up for a forum account, Poetic Post requires a user name, and an e-mail address.
Poetic Post uses your account data to identify you on the forum, and to create pages specific to you, like your profile page. Since the forum is public, Poetic Post publishes your account data.
Poetic Post uses your e-mail address to:
- notify you about posts and other activity on the forum
- reset your password and help keep your account secure
- contact you in special circumstances related to your account
- contact you about legal requests, like DMCA takedown requests
You may provide additional data for your account, like a short biography, your location, or your birthday, on the profile settings page for your account. Poetic Post makes that data available to others who can access the forum. You don’t have to provide this additional information, and you can erase it at any time.
Poetic Post stores your account data as long as your account remains open.
Poetic Post collects data about posts and other activity on the forum.
Poetic Post collects the content of your posts, plus data about bookmarks, likes, and links you follow in order to share that data with others, through the forum. Poetic Post publishes your activity publically.
Poetic Post also collects data about private messages that you send through the forum. Poetic Post makes private messages available to senders and their recipients, and also to forum administrators.
Poetic Post stores your posts and other activity as long as your account remains open.
How can I make choices about data collection?
Currently, other than editing certain information within your profile settings, we do not have a way for you to make choices about data collection.

Poetic Post respects privacy rights under the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Information that GDPR requires Poetic Post to give can be found throughout this privacy notice. So can information about specific rights, like access, rectification, erasure, data portability, and objection to automated decision-making. Please note, Poetic Post is not a business or an organization. Poetic Post is not selling any products or services. Poetic Post is simply a free online forum.
Does Poetic Post comply with the California Consumer Privacy Regulation?
Poetic Post respects the rights of California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Regulation. Poetic Post does not sell your personal information within the meaning of that regulation. Other information that CCPA requires Poetic Post to give can be found throughout this privacy notice. So can information about specific rights, like requesting disclosure about information Poetic Post collects and requesting deletion of your data.
Where can I access data about me?
Your profile page lists your posts and other activity on the forum. You may also change certain data such as your email, username, and/or password within your profile settings. As stated above, your IP address is collected, as well as information about the type of browser you are using. We currently do not have a way to provide this particular data to you. But, the following is what it looks like. As you can see it is nothing that can easily identify you. It is data which can be used for security puposes or troubleshooting.

How can I change or erase data about me?
You can change your account data at any time by visiting the profile settings page for your account. Currently, you cannot delete your account on your own, however you may contact us at any time and request that your account be deleted. To do so email email@example.com. Closing your account starts a process of erasing or anonymizing Poetic Post's records of data you provided for your account. Forum administrators can also erase and anonymize accounts.
You may also edit, or erase your posts. When you edit posts, Poetic Post will keep all versions of your posts. When you delete your posts, they will no longer be visible to the public or standard members. But, forum administrators can view and restore deleted posts if needed. Forum administrators can view old versions of posts, and optionally make them visible to other forum visitors.
Does Poetic Post make automated decisions based on data about me?
Currently, no. Poetic Post does not have any automated decision making processes in place.
Does Poetic Post share data about me with others?
Poetic Post shares account data with others as mentioned in the section about account data.
Poetic Post shares data about your posts and other forum activity with others as mentioned in the section about account data.
Poetic Post does not sell or give information about you to other companies or services, except for our web host. We pay a company which hosts Poetic Post and therefore your information is on their servers. However, our web host also states that they will not sell or share information Poetic Post collects.
Other individuals and companies may reuse data about you that Poetic Post publishes, such as your posts to public forums.
