Wind is gently caressing my skin
reminding me that I am alive,
adjusting the frequency in my head,
tuning into the present
and tuning out all else.
The mantra, “may I be happy,” begins,
and repeats as my lungs empty,
and repeats as my lungs fill.
My brain is very stubborn;
The repetition is necessary.
Picturing a loved one I repeat,
“May you be happy.”
Picturing an enemy I repeat,
“May you be happy.”
May all beings be happy!
May all beings be well!
May all beings be free!
Deeper into bliss I float
as I pass by the sounds of birds.
They sing softly to me
as the wind strokes my hair.
It’s as if both want me to be happy.
After one last deep breath
I slowly open my eyes
and unwittingly, I’m smiling.
I calmly rise and thank the universe
for this experience.
